Why South Indians should NOT force to speak Hindi

No doubt, hindi is being spoken by a large number of people in India, more than 80%. But it doesn't mean that another 20% should also speak. When we talk unity in diversity then we should try to conserve the diversity in our culture. Hindi ofcourse an official language of "Republic of India" but do not mix it with "national language of India". You can't force anyone to feel attachment untill it comes from their inner. I lives in TAMILNADU, Chennai for last six years. I had no idea before coming here that I will face several difficulties when it comes to food, language and culture. But I got overwhelming support from my classmates. They were so supportive, but now it was my turn to squeeze something from that support. I took that as opportunity to learn few words of Tamil so that I can mix up with them. First year of my engineering was fully dedicated to learn Tamil, as professors were giving lecture in it.
